Workers First Partnership Manager

About UFR: United for Respect (UFR) is a national organization building the voice of people working for the country’s largest retail corporations. Through scaled leadership development and base-building, UFR’s growing network is challenging major corporations and policymakers to provide family - sustaining jobs for all working people. We leverage technology, including social media and our digital platforms, WorkIt and Issue Tracker, to bring people who work in retail together into shared community and advocacy campaigns. About Workers First California:  In 2020 UFR partnered with 4 other California-based worker centers (Pilipino Workers Center, Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy, Warehouse Workers Resource Center, and Gig Workers Rising)  to spin up a statewide, multi-sector phone app called Workers First California (WFCA). Our partners envision a future where the app will be a viable, alternative platform on which to organize workers securely, moving away from over depending on extractive, corporate social media platforms to reach and connect with workers.

The Workers First app is built on WorkIt technology, our proprietary digital platform that leverages machine learning to provide immediate support to people in low-wage jobs who are struggling to understand and assert their rights under the law. Workers can ask any question about workplace policy or rights via a simple chat interface to receive immediate, easy-to-understand advice and support. The technology’s knowledge base is drawn from our partners’ industry expertise and trusted sources on state regulatory policies.

Workers First is currently available in English and will be available in Spanish starting May 2021. It can be downloaded directly through Google Play or iTunes.

Scope of Work: The Workers First Partnership Manager will be tasked with growing our multi-organization effort to provide Workers First as a universal platform so that any working person in the state of California can access fast, reliable information and workplace support.
